
A 14-year-old boy was in critical condition after he was shot Friday afternoon in West Ridge, according to police sources and an internal notification.
The shooting occurred around 3 p.m. on the 6300 block of North Rockwell Street, according to an initial Chicago police notification. A police source said someone had fired from a blue Honda Accord, which fled the scene.
The boy was hit in the neck and taken to Lurie Children’s Hospital in critical condition, per the initial notification. It wasn’t clear if the child was the intended target.

His parents were uninjured, but Rogers Park (24th) District officers took them to the hospital as well, per a police source. Belmont Area detectives are investigating.
