Evergreen Park students collect canned goods

About 200 nonperishable food items were collected during a food drive led by Evergreen Park Community High School.

The 9/11 Day of Service Memorial Food Drive last month, which was open to alums, staff, students and the public, was part of the national Day of Service on 9/11. In the days leading up to the 25th anniversary of 9/11, a donation bin was set up at the gate at the football field during the game between Evergreen Park and Shepard High School.

The items have been taken to the Evergreen Park Food Pantry, a nonprofit organization set up by representatives of the Village of Evergreen Park, as well as churches, community organizations and residents.

“We are happy to continue to support the Evergreen Park Food Pantry in their efforts to fight against food insecurity in our community,” EPCSH director of activities Amy Kazin shared via a news release.
