Republican state Rep. Jeff Keicher, 53, is chair of the bipartisan Legislative Ethics Commission, and told us he has “seen what works in this system and what does not, and the [Harry] Benton matter showed both.” His deep insight into Illinois’ ethics challenges, paired with his fiscal restraint, are valuable resources for voters in this region. We felt reassured by his position on legislative oversight, both because of his detailed knowledge and his clear intent to deliver for taxpayers.
Keicher’s Democratic opponent is Veronica Garcia-Martinez, 44, who says the right things on ethics reform and oversight, but the wrong things on tax policy — namely, pledging her support for a millionaires tax upon arrival in Springfield should she win this race.
Jeff Keicher is endorsed.
