A death investigation was underway after a body was found inside a police car at a Chicago police station on the city’s Far South Side Thursday morning, authorities said.
The body of an unidentified man was discovered in the back of a new, unused police vehicle at Calumet District (5th) at 727 E. 112th St. in the Pullman neighborhood at around 9:15 a.m., according to a statement from Chicago police.
The vehicle had never been in service and was parked, police said. The man was pronounced dead on scene.

Calumet Area detectives were conducting a death investigation pending an autopsy.
