Rescuers continue to search for a missing woman who was inside of a vehicle that lost control and veered into the Calumet River overnight in the Riverdale neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Around 2:30 a.m., a vehicle lost control in the 13000 block of South Indiana Avenue and struck a barrier before veering into the water. Five adults were inside the vehicle were able to exit and made it safely back to land, Chicago police said.

A man was rescued by the Chicago Police Department Marine Unit and was taken to UChicago Medicine where he was listed in serious condition. A woman was still missing as of 7 a.m., and rescuers were searching for her, officials said.

The Major Accidents Investigation Unit was investigating the accident.
