Zachary Tillman was taken into custody without incident. Tillman was later charged with criminal confinement with a deadly weapon, a Level 3 felony, and two felony counts of intimidation.
The incident unfolded around 12:42 a.m. when Tillman threatened to shoot himself and police if they were called, according to the probable cause affidavit. Police sent a drone to get an idea of Tillman’s whereabouts, which saw Tillman pacing the backyard with a gun as well as walking with the woman to the end of the alley and back home, the affidavit states. Officers could not reach Tillman or the woman on the phone, and due to the escalating threats, the SWAT team was called in. The woman told police that Tillman grabbed her by the arm and pulled her along with him in a hurried manner while telling her they had to go because of the police, court records state.
Eventually, SWAT officers made contact with Tillman and were able to remove the teen and minor children from the home.
Tillman was then removed from the house without incident and received treatment, and the woman also exited safely, records state.
A witness told police that the couple had been having arguments about their relationship for weeks and that Tillman had been abusing prescription pain pills. After police arrived, the witness said she saw Tillman point a gun at his chin and later said, “If they come around here, I’m gonna kill them all,” referring to law enforcement officers, the affidavit states.
Police found a total of 14 firearms, including 13 firearms from various locations inside the residence and one firearm recovered from a neighboring yard south of the residence that officers believed Tillman had discarded during the incident, including a MAC-10-style firearm, records state.
