No appointments are required.

To apply online, visit DisasterAssistance.gov or contact FEMA at 1-800-621-3362.

FEMA assistance is available regardless of citizenship status, according to a release.

Following a federal disaster declaration in 21 Indiana counties, including Lake and Porter, applications can be submitted to FEMA until Oct. 25.

Residents who have insurance need to file a claim before applying to FEMA, which covers only uninsured or underinsured losses.

FEMA can’t provide assistance until it reviews insurance settlements or denials.

State disaster relief is also available to residents with storm damage. Residents can apply by visiting in211.communityos.org

 or by calling 211.

Residents can also use their cell phone to text for assistance by texting IN211HELP to 898-211.
