ENVIRONMENTAL GROUPS HOLDING DATA CENTER FORUM
Environmental organizations We Can Lead Change-Fox Valley, Fox Valley Rising Indivisible and the Sierra Club will host “Data Centers: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, at Elgin Community College’s Seigle Auditorium in Building E.
The panel will include Alison Lindburg, Aurora’s director of sustainability; Matt Harvey of the Citizens Utility Board; Don Johnson, a cooling systems expert with a doctorate in physical chemistry; and Steve Andersson, an attorney and former Illinois state representative, a news release said.
“Data centers can bring investment, construction jobs and tax revenue, but communities also need clear information about energy demand, water use, noise, infrastructure and long-term costs,” We Can Lead Change spokesperson Linda Robertson said in the release. “Those questions should be answered before — not after — projects are approved.”
Attendees will be able to submit questions to the panel. The event can also be viewed on Zoom. For more information, go to WeCanLeadChange.org/events.
