DUNDEE TOWNSHIP LIONS CLUB HOLDING FALL MUM SALE

Dundee Township Lions Club is taking orders for its annual fall mum sale.

The mums are from Kolze’s Corner Gardens in Woodstock and available in orange, purple, red, yellow and white, according to the sale webpage. The cost is $20 for a 2-gallon pot.

Orders will be accepted through Sunday, Sept. 6, and will be available for pickup from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 13, at The Depot, 310 N. River St., East Dundee. Proceeds will go to local charities.

PARKVIEW SCHOOL FINISHES FIRST CONSTRUCTION PHASE

School District 300 held a ribbon-cutting ceremony this month to mark the completion of the first phase of expansion/renovation work at Parkview Elementary School, 125 Carpenter Blvd. in Carpentersville.

The 17,000-square-foot addition includes a new entrance, media center, kindergarten classrooms, specialized instructional and support spaces, renovated cafeteria and flexible multipurpose space, according to a news release from general contractor Lamp Inc. of Elgin. It also provides improved student pickup and drop-off circulation, enhanced building security and a new outdoor courtyard.

The second phase of work will take place in summer 2027 and will focus on renovating existing space and updating building systems, the release said.

Parkview opened in 1953 and currently houses more than 500 students. Classes for the 2026-27 school year started Aug. 11.

CINDY’S SUPER SALE BEING HELD AUG. 29 AT YWCA ELGIN

Cindy’s Super Sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at YWCA Elgin, 220 E. Chicago St., Elgin.

The annual formalwear sale is open to anyone 11 or older and features gently used clothing, with most items priced from $3 to $25, according to the YWCA Elgin website.

Among the items available are sundresses and dresses for homecoming, after-5 and mother-of-the-bride; dress pants and shirts; ties; and school performance attire.

Proceeds support YWCA Elgin’s Cinderella’s Closet formalwear program, which provides prom attire for local high school students.

FRINGE FEST SEEKING HOSTS FOR PERFORMERS, STAFF

Elgin Fringe Festival is seeking people to host the acts and staff coming to the city for the event.

Scheduled to take place at various downtown venues Sept. 23-27, the fest needs accommodations for solo artists and for groups of two to four people, according to the festival’s website.

Some guests will need housing for a full week, while others may only need a place to stay for a night or two, the site said. Anyone who provides housing will receive two free festival passes and a $25 credit for fest merchandise.
