A Hobart man faces felony child solicitation charges after he was caught trying to arrange a sexual encounter with someone he thought was a 13-year-old girl, court records show.

Logan Todd Miles, 27, was arrested Sunday afternoon by the Portage Police Department. He is charged with two counts of child solicitation, which are Level 4 and Level 5 felonies. He also has an additional charge of resisting law enforcement.

A woman from the NWI Predator Catchers Group contacted police and told them that Miles had agreed to come meet and engage in sexual behavior with an underage girl, the court record states.

After his arrest, Miles was brought to the Portage Police Department and agreed to speak with Detective Lt. David Czilli.

Miles said he added a female with the profile “Sam” to his Snapchat account about three or four weeks ago. He stated that the “Sam,” which was a decoy, told him that she was 13 or 14, the court record says.

Though he acknowledged there was an age difference, he continued to speak with her. Miles sent a picture of an erect penis, but later stated that it was an image he found online, the court record says.

“Mr. Miles acknowledged that what he was doing was wrong and inappropriate but continued anyway,” Czilli said in his probable cause statement.

Portage Police stopped Miles in the 3200 block of Spinnaker in Portage on Sunday afternoon, while he was on the way to meet “Sam.”

Miles told the detective that he was going to meet her and didn’t believe she was telling the truth about her age from pictures she had sent and believed she was older. He said there was no intention of having sexual activity that day, the court record says.
