A man who was riding an e-scooter when he was struck by a tire has died of his injuries, the Lake County Coroner’s Office said Monday.
Domingo Ocampo, 60, of Park City, died Saturday, about two weeks after he was injured, the coroner’s office said.
Ocampo was riding his e-scooter on July 27 at about 5:25 p.m. in Gurnee when the accident happened, authorities said.

He was riding on the shoulder of northbound Illinois Route 41 near the Grand Avenue exit, while at the same time a truck towing a trailer was also headed north. Two tires broke loose from the trailer, and one of them hit Ocampo, the coroner’s office said.
He was brought to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he later died. The accident remains under investigation by Gurnee Police and the Major Crash Assistance Team.
