TOBY KEITH’S FORMER LEAD GUITARIST TO PERFORM

Rich Eckhardt, lead guitarist for late country singer Toby Keith, will present “Made In America – A Tribute to Toby Keith” as one of two Naper Nights concerts being staged at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at Naper Settlement in Naperville.

The tribute band performance will feature Keith’s catalog of country hits, party songs, ballads and patriotic anthems, including “Should’ve Been a Cowboy,” “How Do You Like Me Now?!,” “I Love This Bar,” “Red Solo Cup” and “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue,” a news release said.

Eckhardt performed alongside Keith from 1998 until the star’s death in 2024.

The band will take the stage from 8 to 10 p.m. after a performance by Taylor Swift tribute Sparks Fly from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Gates open at 5 p.m. at Naper Settlement, 523 S. Webster St. Naper Nights offers local food vendors, beverages, community organizations and children’s activities.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for children ages 4 to 12. Proceeds support the Naperville Heritage Society.

NAPERVILLE RESIDENT CHOSEN AS SIGNATURE FELLOW

Naperville resident Anthony Lopez, director of community affairs for Nicor Gas, was one of 43 leaders selected by Leadership Greater Chicago as a member of the 2027 Class of Signature Fellows.

The professionals are from the corporate, nonprofit, philanthropic, government and education sectors, a news release said.

The 43 leaders will take part in a 10-month civic leadership development fellowship through which they can tackle socioeconomic issues affecting the greater Chicago region, including such topics as community safety, health inequality, access to affordable housing, education, workforce and economic development.

More than 1,600 people have completed the civic leadership development fellowships since 1985, including former First Lady Michelle Obama; former U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan; former Executive Chairman of Urban Partnership Bank David Vitale, the release said.

Each year, a new class of leaders is selected through a competitive application process.

VETERANS RESOURCE FAIR PLANNED FOR AUG. 25

The Veterans Assistance Commission of DuPage County will hold a Veterans Resource Fair featuring more than 60 organizations from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, at the JTK Administration Building, 421 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton.

The DuPage County Health Department, Hines VA Hospital and the Secretary of State’s office are among the organizations that will share information about services and resources available for veterans at the free event, which is open to the public, a news release said.

Guests can get help obtaining a REAL ID or a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license, but need to schedule an appointment for this service in advance by emailing [email protected] or [email protected].

The event also will include refreshments, door prizes and giveaways.
