No one was hurt during a fireworks malfunction during the Town of Highland’s fireworks display Sunday night.
A malfunction within a launch tube knocked over a second tube loaded with fireworks at Homestead Park on the town’s north side, according to a release the Highland Police issued on social media Sunday night. The second tube then caused a “low-altitude aerial detonation,” the release said.

Highland Police and Firefighters already stationed at the event responded immediately, the release said.
The detonation appears to have been “an isolated equipment failure” and will be reviewed by event organizers and the fireworks contractor as part of the normal post-event process, according to the release. Fishers-based Mad Bomber Fireworks was the contractor putting on the show for the town.
