Seven people were injured in two shootings on the same block early Sunday in West Garfield Park, Chicago police said. Most of the victims were teenagers.
A 17-year-old girl was shot in the chest at around 1:25 a.m. in the 3800 block of W. Maypole Ave., police said. She was transported to Stroger Hospital, where she is in critical condition.
About ten minutes later, six people were shot on the same block. Police said the group of mostly teenagers was standing outside when they were struck by gunfire at around 1:34 a.m.
The victims include two 17-year-old boys, an 18-year-old woman, an 18-year-old man, a 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old man. They are all in good condition at Stroger and Mt. Sinai hospitals.
Around 1:48 a.m., a 33-year-old man was found with gunshot wounds in the 4300 block of W. Van Buren St., about a mile away. He was transported to Stroger Hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead, police said.
