Clint Jamison, 28, of Country Club Hills has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of his girlfriend, Candice Redman, 27, of Calumet City, the Country Club Hills Police Department announced Friday.
Police said they responded to a domestic battery call at 4:24 p.m. Wednesday on the 17700 block of Michael Avenue and found Redman bleeding from the neck.
Redman was rushed to Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, police said, where she died of her wounds. Her cause of death was listed by the Cook County medical examiner’s office as multiple sharp force injuries.
Witnesses told police that Jamison fled the scene in a black Ford sedan, and a description of him and the car was broadcast over the Illinois State Police emergency channel, police said.
Jamison was arrested by Illinois State Police in Chicago within an hour, police said.
The Cook County state’s attorney’s office approved first-degree murder charges against Jamison, according to police, and he was set to be transferred to the Cook County sheriff’s lockup at the Markham courthouse.
Redman’s death is the second potentially domestic violence-related homicide reported in the south suburbs this month.
Bianca Davis, 51, of Homewood was shot and killed in her home on June 6. Her ex-boyfriend, Carlos Jones, was subsequently found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police concluded that Jones was the perpetrator in Davis’ death.
