Bianca C. Davis, 51, of Homewood was shot and killed Saturday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Homewood police responded at 1:45 p.m. Saturday to the 2400 block of 175th Street, where Davis lived, and found her dead, the Homewood Police Department said in a news release.

Davis’ cause of death was listed as a gunshot wound to the head.

Police said they are conducting an investigation with the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force, and asked anyone with information to contact 708-206-3420.

In Lansing, a person was shot on the 3000 block of Bernice Road, the Lansing Police Department said in a Saturday news release.

“The area was searched and the offender appears to have left the area,” police said.

The victim was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition, police said. Police said it appeared that the people involved may have known each other.

The shooting comes just days after a person was shot and killed in Lansing Thursday, prompting police to issue a two-hour shelter in place order.

Lansing Mayor Brian Hardy issued a statement Monday in light of the recent violent incidents saying that public safety was a top priority for him.

“While these incidents are deeply concerning, they are not representative of the community we know and love,” Hardy said in his statement. “Lansing remains a strong, caring, and resilient community, and we will continue working together to keep it safe.”
