The investigation into the June 6 homicide of Bianca Davis, 51, of Homewood, concluded she was killed by Carlos Jones, who was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound two days later, the Homewood Police Department said Monday.
Jones arrived at Davis’ home the morning of June 6 in the 2400 block of 175th Street before leaving about 10 minutes later, police said.
Jones and Davis had a dating relationship that ended a few months before the killing, according to police.
No one else came to the home until family visited in the afternoon and discovered Davis dead of a gunshot wound, police said.
After identifying Jones as a suspect, police obtained a search warrant June 8 for his home on the 17600 block of Dixie Highway. When no one responded to multiple loudspeaker orders to exit the home, police entered and found Jones in a bedroom, dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The exact time of Jones’ death is unknown, police said, but investigators believe it occurred some time in the evening of June 6, the same day Davis was shot and killed.
“The facts and evidence gathered during this investigation indicate that Jones was the offender in this homicide,” police said in a statement. “Due to Jones’ death, this investigation has been closed.”
