Two men were fatally wounded Thursday night on the Near West Side in the United Center neighborhood, Chicago police said.
Shortly after 10 p.m., the victims, both 38, were standing outside in the 300 block of South Maplewood Avenue when someone approached on foot, pulled out a gun and fired multiple shots in their direction, police said.
One of the men suffered multiple gunshot wounds throughout the body and was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The other man was wounded in both flanks and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and pronounced dead, police said.
No one was in custody and detectives were investigating.
