A Hainesville woman was killed over the weekend when the car in which she was riding collided with another vehicle in Antioch, the Lake County Coroner’s Office said Monday.
Authorities said Elaine Weamer, 78, died from blunt force injuries.
Police said she was riding in a car Saturday at about 2:35 p.m. that was headed north on Illinois Route 83. As the car entered the intersection with Illinois Route 173, an oncoming car attempted to turn left in the path of the vehicle carrying Weamer and the two cars crashed.
Both drivers were also injured and were taken to area hospitals, authorities said. Weamer was brought to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where she was pronounced dead in the emergency room.
The crash remains under investigation by Antioch police and the Major Crash Assistance Team.
