A 29-year-old woman was killed overnight in a double shooting at a South Shore neighborhood during a robbery attempt that turned into a fight, Chicago police said.
Shortly before 12:30 a.m., two women, 29 and 37, were inside of a residence in the 7100 block of South Jeffrey Boulevard when a male suspect pulled out a weapon and demanded their property, police said. A fight ensued and the suspect opened fire striking both women, police said.
The youngest victim suffered wounds to the neck and back, and was taken to UChicago Medicine where she was pronounced dead. The second woman, 37, suffered a wound to the arm and was taken to the same hospital where she was listed in good condition, police said.
No one was in custody and detectives were investigating.
