A person of interest was in police custody Friday following the shooting death of a 43-year-old woman inside her South Shore home, according to Chicago police.
Tatanisha Jackson was inside her residence in the 6800 block of South Cornell Avenue shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday when a 17-year-old boy pulled out a gun and shot her, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Jackson suffered four gunshots to the head and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead. Police said they recovered a firearm at the scene.
The teenage boy fled the scene, police said. A police spokesperson declined to explain the relationship between Jackson and the boy. A relative of Jackson’s declined to comment.
Charges were pending, authorities said.
