Monday was the last day for candidates for file to run for seats in the Illinois House and Senate and U.S. House and Senate in the June 28 primary.

Here’s a look at who has filed petitions to be on the Republican and Democratic ballots in districts that include all or parts of Naperville:

U.S. Senate

Naperville resident Matthew “Matt” Dubiel is one of eight Republican candidates in the primary seeking the nomination and a chance to unseat incumbent Sen. Tammy Duckworth, D-Hoffman Estates.

The other GOP candidates are Kathy Salvi, of Mundelein; Anthony W. Williams, of Dolton; Jimmy Lee Tillman II, of Chicago; Robert “Bobby” Piton, of Geneva; Maryann Mahlen, of Orland Park; Casey Chlebek, of Lake Forest; and Peggy Hubbard, of Belleville.

Duckworth is running unopposed on the Democratic side. She is seeking a second term.

U.S. House – District 6

Incumbent U.S. Rep. Sean Casten, of Downers Grove, has two Democratic challengers — U.S. Rep. Marie Newman, D-La Grange, and Charles Hughes, of Chicago — in his bid for a third term.

The GOP primary candidates are Robert “Bob” Cruz, of Oak Lawn; Catherine A. O’Shea, of Oak Lawn; Keith Pekau, of Orland Park; Niki Conforti, of Glen Ellyn; Scott R. Kaspar, of Orland Park; and Gary Grasso, of Burr Ridge.

U.S. House – District 11

Naperville U.S. Rep. Bill Foster is unopposed in the Democratic primary. He has represented the district since 2013.

Seven Republican candidates will face off in the primary. They are Cassandra Tanner Miller, of Elgin; Mark Carroll, of North Aurora; Susan L. Hathaway-Altman, of Geneva; Juan “Johnny” Ramos, of Naperville; Catalina Lauf, of Woodstock; Andrea Heeg, of Geneva; and Jerry Evans, of Warrenville.

U.S. House – District 14

Naperville U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood will run unopposed in the Democratic primary. She is seeking a third term.

Six Republican candidates have filed to be on the primary ballot: Susan Starrett, of North Aurora; Jack Lombardi II, of Manhattan; Mike Koolidge, of Rochelle; Scott R. Gryder, of Oswego; Jaime Milton, of Fox River Grove; and James “Jim” T. Marter, of Oswego.

Illinois Senate – 21st District

Incumbent Sen. Laura Ellman, D-Naperville, will run unopposed in the primary. On the Republican side, Kathleen Murray, of Lombard, is also run unopposed.

Illinois Senate – 24th District

State Rep. Seth Lewis, R-Bartlett, is running unopposed in both the primary and general elections as of right now.

Because of redistricting, the 24th District will include parts of northern Naperville when the new district boundaries go into effect in 2023.

Illinois Senate – 41st District

Incumbent John Curran, R-Downers Grove, is running unopposed in both the primary and general elections as of right now.

Illinois Senate – 49th District

Incumbent Meg Loughran Cappel, D-Shorewood, is unopposed in the Democratic primary.

Three Republican candidates are seeking the GOP nomination: Felicity Joy Solomon, of Shorewood; Stacey Keagle, of Plainfield; and James E. Lawson, Jr., of Plainfield.

Illinois House – 41st District

Incumbent Janet Yang Rohr, D-Naperville, will run unopposed in the Democratic primary.

On the Republican side, Jennifer Bruzan Taylor, of Naperville, also is unopposed.

Illinois House – 47th District

Current 42nd District Rep. Amy Grant, R-Wheaton, will run in the 47th District race in 2022 due to redistricting. She is unopposed in both the Republican primary and the general election as of right now.

Illinois House – 49th District

Incumbent Rep. Maura Hirschauer, D-Batavia, is unopposed in the Democratic primary.

On the Republican side, Kevin Wallace, of Bartlett, will run unopposed in the primary.

Illinois House – 81st District

Incumbent Rep. Anne Stava-Murray, D-Naperville, is unopposed in the Democratic primary.

Fellow Naperville resident and current Naperville City Councilman Paul Leong is unopposed in the Republican primary.

Illinois House – 84th District

Incumbent Rep. Stephanie Kifowit, D-Oswego, is unopposed in the Democratic primary.

On the Republican side, Joe West, of Oswego, is also running unopposed.

Illinois House – 85th District

Incumbent Rep. Dagmara Avelar, D-Bolingbrook, is unopposed in the Democratic primary and general election as of right now.

Illinois House – 97th District

Harry Benton, of Plainfield, is unopposed in the Democratic primary.

Two Republicans — Michelle Smith, of Plainfield, and Thomas McCullagh, of Shorewood — are seeking the GOP nomination.

Incumbent Rep. Mark Batinick, R-Plainfield, announced he would not seek reelection.

Objection deadline

The deadline to file objections to nominating petitions is March 21.
