Lake County is looking for feedback on a 1.5-mile stretch of Arlington Heights Road that officials say they are looking to rebuild in the near future.

At this point, residents have submitted more than 100 comments and responses, project manager Darrell Kuntz said. Many of the comments, which can be seen on a map provided by the county, point to issues with crashes, traffic, and bicycle and pedestrian pathways.

The section of road the county is asking for feedback about begins at Route 83 and continues south to West Lake Cook Road, going through Buffalo Grove, Long Grove and Arlington Heights. Along the route, there are three intersections with traffic lights. Data on the project from the county also includes traffic information, crash statistics and information on the process.

Kuntz said eventually the county is planning to rebuild the 1.5-mile stretch of road with new pavement. As a result, he said the county is trying to get information about possible changes or improvements to the road.

“We’re looking to see what people like and don’t like, and seeing what we can improve while we’re there,” he said.

Kuntz said there are no intentions to add any lanes to the road, or to make any “wholesale” changes.

“The pavement replacement, as well as maybe some (improvements) at some of the intersections are some of the main things we want to look at,” he said.

Kuntz added the number of comments up to this point has been substantial. He compared it to the normal in-person process used in the past. Those typically see between 25 to 50 comments at most, he said.

The county will be gathering information and working on a design for much of the next year. At that point, a presentation will be given detailing the new plan, Kuntz said.

To submit feedback on the road or see what other comments have already been submitted, visit the county’s website. The survey will be open until Feb. 25.
