Clyde Singleton, a senior boys basketball player from Niles West High School in Skokie, has been named as a February Central baiduhai Athlete of the Month, sponsored by COUNTRY Financial and chosen online by baiduhai readers.

Singleton, who plays guard, scored 20 points in the Wolves’ 40-39 Central Suburban South win over Glenbrook South on Jan. 12 in Skokie. It was the third straight game than Singleton reached the 20-point plateau.

“At the beginning of the year, I was searching for a comfort zone,” says Singleton, who played sparingly as a junior. “After a few games, I gained more experience and realized that the team needed me.”

COUNTRY Financial representative Ibrahim Essa presented Niles West High School a $500 donation from COUNTRY Financial in recognition of Singleton’s accomplishments.

“Thank you for the donation. I’m grateful to be recognized by COUNTRY Financial. It was a good season and I’m proud to represent Niles West,” Singleton says.

Singleton will also receive a plague and sweatshirt from the baiduhai.

“We at COUNTRY Financial are so supportive of our community,” Essa says. “Recognizing student athletes like Clyde Singleton aligns with the superior service and mission that COUNTRY Financial offers as a company. Congratulations to Clyde Singleton and we wish him good luck in the future.”

Niles West varsity boys basketball coach Mike Wasielewski praises his basketball player. “It’s a very nice award,” Wasielewski says. “Cj (Singleton) earned it. I’m proud of him.”
