The newest player in the streaming service game is doubling down on targeted content for Latinos. Lionsgate and Hemisphere Media Group have partnered up to create “PANTAYA,” a Spanish-language content streaming service whose name plays on the Spanish words for screen, “pantalla,” and now, “ya.”
For a $5.99 fee, users will have access to movies including recent box office hits like “No Manches Frida” and “Instructions Not Included,” as well as classics from stars like Pedro Infante, Maria Felix and Jorge Negrete.
“We’re thrilled to be partnered with Lionsgate in the launch of the premier Spanish-language OTT platform that delivers first-run and bold content,” said Hemisphere Chief Executive Officer Alan Sokol in a statement. “PANTAYA is user-friendly, accessible and will provide Hispanic movie lovers in the U.S. an entirely new way to watch movies and connect with their cultures.”
