Auditions: The Bowen Park Theatre is seeking physical actors who are comfortable with heightened text, creating characters, and working as an ensemble, for a colorblind spring production of William Shakespeare’s “The Comedy of Errors.” This is Shakespeare’s shortest and most farcical of his comedies. The play is about two sets of twins who are separated at birth, mishaps due to mistaken identities and is filled with Shakespeare’s puns and word play. Performances will run March 25 to April 10. Most actors will be playing multiple roles, so actors who enjoy creating characters are encouraged to audition. Director Alicia Hall, of Moving Dock Theatre/Chekhov Studio Chicago, will be using some tools of the Michael Chekhov technique in the rehearsal process. Actors need not have prior experience with the technique. Initial auditions will take place from noon to 5:30 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Jack Benny Center for the Arts, Bowen Park, 39 Jack Benny Drive. It is requested that all interested actors please call 847-360-4740 to reserve a time slot for the Sunday-only auditions. Bring a headshot and resume and prepare one approximately one-minute long piece of comedic classical text. Group callbacks will be held from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 25.
