Aurora police said an armed man hit a clerk over the head and robbed a 7-Eleven store last week.

The robbery occurred around 2:50 a.m. Sept. 3 in the 600 block of South Frontenac Street when a man entered the store with a long rifle or shotgun, Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli said.

Police said the man pointed a gun at the 36-year-old clerk and demanded money.

Ferrelli said that when the clerk went to get the money out of the register, the robber struck him in the head with the gun and helped himself to an unknown amount of cash before running northbound from the store.

Ferrelli said the clerk was treated for his injuries at the store.

The suspect is described as a black man between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot-2, weighing 140 to 170 pounds. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, a white jacket, blue jeans and a white T-shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call Aurora police investigators at 630-256-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000.
