Two men who jumped out of a pickup truck when it was stopped by police in Kendall County over the weekend are still on the loose, police said.
A teenager who also jumped from the vehicle was found hiding shortly after the incident in a nearby cornfield early Saturday morning, according to police.
Kendall County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Mrozek said an officer was attempting to pull over a 1997 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck for a taillight violation around 12:20 a.m. near Orchard Road and Tuscany Trail near Oswego when three people jumped out of the vehicle and began to run.
The men fled into a nearby cornfield and the officer gave chase with a police dog.
The teen found in the cornfield was taken into custody and charged with criminal trespass to a vehicle. The two others who ran from the truck have not been found, Mrozek said.
Deputies learned the truck had been reported stolen from a driveway in the 500 block of Morton Avenue around 12:20 a.m. Sept. 2. Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli said the vehicle was left unlocked with the keys inside. Aurora police have made no arrests in the case, Ferrelli said.
