Police said an alleged argument over a cable box ended with a stabbing early Sunday morning in Aurora.

According to Aurora police reports, officers were called to the 1600 block of Plum Street around 12:03 a.m. for reports of a stabbing that had just occurred.

The caller said the injured man was reported last seen getting into a vehicle outside of the address.

When police arrived, they learned that the alleged altercation happened inside a second-story apartment. Officers went to the unit and found a 59-year-old woman doing dishes inside. There was allegedly blood on the kitchen counter, and one of the items she was cleaning was a knife, police said.

Sleeping in a bedroom inside the home was 69-year-old Leroy Glass.

Police said that when they questioned Glass about the alleged stabbing, he denied being involved. Glass’ story eventually changed when police asked him to explain why there was blood on his hands, they said.

Glass allegedly told police that he and another man were arguing about the cable box when a physical fight erupted. Glass said the 43-year-old man beat him and slammed his head into the counter.

In their reports, police said no blood or wound was found on Glass’ head.

About 20 minutes into speaking with officers, Glass began to complain of chest pains and said he thought he was having a heart attack, police said. He was taken to an Aurora hospital for an evaluation.

Police said a woman who lived at the home with Glass agreed to let officers search the residence. Inside the bedroom where they found Glass sleeping, police allegedly located a knife that they believed was used in the attack.

While officers were processing the scene, dispatchers were made aware that a stabbing victim had just shown up at an Aurora hospital. Police responded to the hospital to get the man’s story.

The man said he and Glass were fighting over the cable box when Glass stabbed him in the left side of his chest. Police said there was also a knife wound on the man’s left hand.

Officers sent a picture of the knife they found located in Glass’ room to the victim for identification. Police said he positively identified it as the one used in the attack.

Glass was admitted to the hospital for an evaluation based on his complaints of chest pain. He was charged with felony aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated domestic battery.
