Two people are facing drug charges after they were allegedly found in possession of cocaine and heroin while loitering outside of an Aurora motel.

Heather Hulet, 34, 1800 block of Carnation Court, Aurora, and Clayton Costello, 33, 600 block of South River Street, Aurora, were both charged around 12:30 a.m. Thursday after police responded to the motel in the 2300 block of North Farnsworth Avenue.

According to Aurora police reports, there are “no loitering” signs posted on all sides of the building. Police said they spotted a group of three people, including Hulet and Costello, loitering outside in spite of the rule.

A third man Costello and Hulet were with was also on parole, police said.

Officers approached the group and searched the man on parole based on that fact. Nothing illegal was found in his possession, but during the search Costello appeared nervous and walked away from the group, police said.

Police said Costello tossed something into the bushes, which turned out to be a bag filled with four empty syringes, one full syringe and two pipes, police said. When he was searched, a small amount of heroin was found in his pants pocket, police said.

During the encounter, police were able to get a look inside Hulet’s purse, which was sitting open and in plain view, they said. Two syringes and a glass pipe were located. Police said a further search of the purse turned up a bag of heroin and a bag of cocaine.

The man Hulet and Costello were with was released without charges.

Costello was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Hulet was charged with two counts of felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
