An Aurora man who was recently arrested and charged with burglary is in trouble again after he was found allegedly breaking into a vehicle, Aurora police said.

Adam Auriene, 25, 800 block of East New York Street, was first arrested on Aug. 18 after he was found passed out in the driveway of a home on Plum Street in Aurora. Police said they found items worth $910 in Auriene’s possession that had been taken from several nearby vehicles. He was charged with felony burglary to a vehicle.

Police ran into Auriene again on Wednesday evening during what they allege was a burglary in progress. Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli said police were called to the area of North Avenue and Broadway around 7:45 p.m. for reports of a man that was running into traffic and pulling on the door handles of vehicles that were stopped at a red light.

A responding officer located a man that matched the callers’ descriptions pulling on the handle of a parked vehicle in the 200 block of LaSalle Street.

When the man spotted the officer he dropped a backpack he was carrying, took off his jacket, and ran from the scene, Ferrelli said.

An additional officer spotted the suspect in the 200 block of South Lincoln Avenue a few minutes later and identified him as Auriene.

On LaSalle Street, where Auriene was initially spotted allegedly pulling on the door handle, the officer discovered that the vehicle had indeed been entered.

Inside the bag Auriene dropped police located items that were allegedly taken from the vehicle.

Auriene was charged with felony burglary to a motor vehicle and misdemeanor obstruction.
