A Round Lake Heights man pleaded not guilty Thursday to possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, a charge that carries a sentence of up to 50 years in prison upon conviction.
Daniel Garcia-Fino, 43, of the 900 block of Rollins Road, is being held in the Lake County Jail on $1 million bail following his Jan. 26 arrest.
Garcia-Fino was taken into custody at his home after an investigation by the Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group (MEG), which conducts drug investigations, according to the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office.
He is charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, a Class X felony for which he could be sentenced to 12 to 50 years in prison upon conviction. The unlawful possession of methamphetamine charge, also a Class X felony, can result in eight to 40 years in prison.
Garcia-Fino pleaded not guilty to both charges during his appearance Thursday in Lake County Circuit Court.
According to his indictment by a Lake County grand jury last week, Garcia-Fino was found to be in possession of more than 400 grams but less than 900 grams of methamphetamine.
Garcia-Fino has also been known as Miguel Delgado-Uribe, the indictment stated.
According to court documents, he was also cited for possession of an altered identification card and possession of drug paraphernalia at the time of his arrest.
