A fifth suspect wanted in connection with Wednesday’s home invasion in unincorporated Waukegan was arrested Friday in Highwood.
Members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit and the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force located Juan Bahena-Arcos, 21, at a residence on Webster Street in Highwood early Friday morning, according to Lake County Sheriff’s officials.
Bahena-Arcos, who had an active $500,000 arrest warrant related to the home Invasion, was taken into custody without incident and taken to the Lake County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division.
He and four other suspects arrested Wednesday are now in Lake County Jail awaiting pending court hearings. Each is charged with home invasion, a Class X felony, punishable by six to 30 years in prison; residential burglary, a Class 1 felony; and various other felony charges.
No one was injured during the home invasion, according to Sgt. Curtis Gregory of the sheriff’s office, who declined to comment Friday on whether anything was taken from the home or on other facts surrounding the case.
The incident Wednesday started about 9:50 a.m. with the report of a home invasion in the 12000 block of Harrison Avenue, located on the border of unincorporated areas in Waukegan and Gurnee.
A 911 caller described a vehicle leaving the area and a sheriff’s deputy patrolling near Dilley’s and Stearn School roads spotted the vehicle and a chased ensued, police said.
The suspect’s vehicle pulled into a driveway on Conifer Lane and two suspects were apprehended while two others escaped on foot, according to police.
One was captured while trying to make a telephone call to a friend inside the principal’s office at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, located about two blocks away from where the suspect vehicle stopped, according to the principal. The fourth suspect was caught near the church.
In addition to Bahena-Arcos, the other suspects charged are Jose L. Villegas, 28, of the 3300 block of Mobile Boulevard, Park City; Pablo F. Calix, 19, of the 4200 block of Greenleaf Court, Park City; Javier Montes, 21, of the 400 block of Monroe Street, Waukegan; and Eduardo Solis-Marcelo, 26, of the 1400 block of Cornelia Avenue, Waukegan.
Appearing in bond court Thursday morning, Villegas, Montes and Solis-Marcelo were held on $500,000 bail. Calix was held on $400,000 bail.
