Sears said that it will offer tax preparation services through Jackson Hewitt Tax Service beginning in January.
The Hoffman-Estates-based retailer said the service will be able available in most of its stores and online.
“This new agreement will offer professional tax services in Sears stores nationwide and deliver added an benefit to the millions of ShopYourWay members,” said Dave Schuvie vice president, licensed business and specialty income, Sears Holdings.
The move marks an end to Sears relationship with H&R; Block, which said it will no longer operates its tax preparation services in Sears locations. “We decided to end our relationship with H&R; Block. We will not discuss the contractual details of any vendor relationships,” said spokeswoman Shanelle Armstrong.
Sears operates more than 2,000 Sears and affiliated stores in the U.S. and Canada, including 810 full-line and 1,270 specialty stores in the U.S.

Jackson Hewitt Tax Service provides federal and state tax preparation services through roughly 6,600 franchised and company owned offices across the United States.
