Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Do you love Twitter? Are you in love? How about combining the two? Let me introduce you to Michael Buchino. He became an ordained minister online and he’s willing to marry you. Under one condition: you tie the knot over Twitter.

Seriously. Vows in 140 characters, twitnesses and a Twitter ceremony — something like do you, @man, take @woman to be your lawfully wedded wife? To have and to tweet from this day forward … ?

You do? Great.

Speaking of questions, why would anyone get married this way? Buchino says he can think of at least one reason.

“No one has to pay for a plane ticket to Louisville or buy a uniquely colored dress they’ll only wear once,” he joked.

Actually, Buchino is quite serious. So how did all this start? Buchino posted an ad on Craigslist in Portland, Ore., stating what might seem obvious — he’s pretty sure no one has ever married via Twitter.

Buchino says one couple in New York has expressed interest so far and he’s been spending time doing research on the legal requirements.

It’s too complicated to explain in this space, but each state has its own rules when it comes to marriage. And Buchino, 29, is ordained only in Oregon, where he lives, but has the ability to become ordained in other states.

Buchino isn’t the kind of person looking for 15 minutes of fame. He has clearly given the idea of a Twitter wedding a lot of thought and he says he’s fascinated by the social media aspects of it. “I think a Twitter wedding would be a very provocative event that would challenge how people think about myriad different types of weddings,” Buchino said.

If you’re interested in talking to Buchino about taking him up on his offer, contact him — where else? — on Twitter at @buchino.

Would you consider getting married via Twitter? Tweet me, poke me — just tell me. Random thought: Does one need to buy wedding presents for a twedding?
