Lincoln-Way Central at Lincoln-Way East
Kickoff: 7 p.m. at 201 Colorado Ave., Frankfort.
What to watch: Join the 10,000 or so other spectators for this intense district rivalry, with No. 11 Lincoln-Way East (5-1) looking to bounce back from last week’s loss to Bolingbrook. In what should be a close game, No. 16 Lincoln-Way Central (5-1) has the ultimate weapon in PK-WR Jake Wieclaw. The senior is 7-for-7 on field goals, with a long of 53 yards, and needs two to tie the national career record of 48. Wieclaw also leads Central with 21 catches for 303 yards and two TDs. The Griffins are led by RB Dan Cebula, DL Dan Giordano (6-4, 250), DL Kyle Smith (6-4, 245), LB Tom Lilja and DB Nick Pecho.
Bob Sakamoto’s pick: Lincoln-Way Central.
Montini at Marian Central
Kickoff: 7:30 p.m. at Harding Field, 1001 McHenry Ave., Woodstock.
What to watch: No. 5 in the home jersey, Marian Central QB Jon Budmayr, who is expected back from a hamstring injury. That would allow Andy Stochl, who did an admirable job filling in, to become a threat at receiver again for No. 13 Marian (6-0). Brace yourself for a huge clash up front when two-way Marian lineman Sean Cwynar (6-4, 290), who’s headed for Notre Dame, confronts Montini’s Ohio State-bound OT, Garrett Goebel (6-5, 270). No. 18 Montini (6-0) also features QB Tom DiCristina, Northwestern-bound OT Chuck Porcelli (6-8, 285), Wisconsin recruit Dex Jones at RB plus WR-DB John Borsellino.
Bob Sakamoto’s pick: Marian Central.
