In the Redskins’ first year in Washington after moving from Boston, rookie quarterback Sammy Baugh completed 18 of 33 passes for 354 yards and three third-quarter TDs as Washington rallied from a 21-14 deficit. The game was in icy 15-degree conditions at Wrigley Field.
2. 1940 NFL title game
Bears 73, Redskins 0
Most famous score in NFL history. Bill Osmanski ran for a 68-yard TD on the second play. The Bears rushed for 381 yards and intercepted eight passes.
3. 1942 NFL title game
Redskins 14, Bears 6
The Redskins stunned the unbeaten Bears, who had defeated 11 opponents by an average of nearly 27 points. The Bears grabbed a 6-0 lead but never scored again. Baugh’s end-zone interception stopped one drive and a penalty nullified a TD run by Hugh Gallarneau.
4. 1943 NFL title game
Bears 41, Redskins 21
In perhaps his finest game as a pro, Bears QB Sid Luckman completed 15 of 26 passes for 286 yards and five TDs. He also ran for 64 yards.

The Bears defense gave a preview of its championship year to come by sacking Washington QB Joe Theismann seven times and creating three turnovers. Walter Payton threw a 19-yard option TD pass to Pat Dunsmore, while QB Steve Fuller and WR Willie Gault hooked up on an electrifying 75-yard TD.

Redskins 27, Bears 13
The Bears failed to score after taking a 13-7 halftime lead as two second-half turnovers led to Washington TDs. Payton’s fumble on the Redskins’ 17 with Bears down 14-13 was the key. The Redskins then went on an 11-play, 83-yard drive to clinch the game on George Rogers’ 1-yard TD run.

Redskins 21, Bears 17
The Redskins rallied from a 14-0, second-quarter deficit on a 4-degree afternoon at Soldier Field, taking the lead on Darrell Green’s 52-yard TD on a punt return.
8. 1997 NBA playoffs
Bulls top Bullets 3-0
The Bulls won 98-86, 109-104 and 96-95 in the first round en route to their second straight NBA title and fifth in seven years. This was the last time Washington used the name Bullets, switching to Wizards the next season.
