Well, they both like to talk

They’re college basketball’s most prominent TV analysts. They’re outspoken, they’re the same age, 65, and both are in St. Louis this weekend to cover the Final Four. CBS’ Billy Packer and ESPN’s Dick Vitale would seem to have much in common. But best of friends they’re not. In fact, they barely are even acquaintances. “I’ve never been to Dick Vitale’s house,” Packer said this week. “I’ve never had a meal with him. I think I’ve talked to him one time on the telephone. . . . I’ve never written him a note. He’s never written me a note. The things that we have in common — I understand he has a great family, a real neat wife — I have likewise. But that may be the only thing we have in common”
