“The X-Files'” David Duchovny is returning for the Fox series’ finale on May 19.
It isn’t known how big a role Duchovny’s character, passionate paranormal investigator Fox Mulder, will play in the ninth, and final, season bow.
Duchovny, who had been with “The X-Files” since its 1993 premiere, left at the end of last season, a possible reason that the show saw its audience drop from an average of about 14 million viewers an episode last season to 8.6 million this season.
Duchovny also is directing and co-writing an episode scheduled for April 28.
