No injuries were reported after an American Airlines aircraft blew a tire on landing at O’Hare International Airport Tuesday afternoon, officials said.
The crew aboard American Airlines Flight 41, arriving from Josep Tarradellas Barcelona–El Prat Airport in Spain, reported a brake issue before the jetliner blew a tire after landing at around 2:30 p.m., according to a statement from the Federal Aviation Administration.
Passengers deplaned via stairs and were bused to the terminal, the FAA stated.
American Airlines, in a statement, said the plane had experienced “a tire issue.” The airline said that “out of an abundance of caution,” first responders met the aircraft.
A Chicago Fire Department spokesperson said there was one “green” transport, or someone listed in good condition.
The Boeing 787-800 aircraft involved in the incident has been taken out of service and will be inspected by American Airlines’ maintenance team, according to the airline and the FAA.
The FAA said it will investigate the incident. “We thank our team members for their professionalism and we apologize for their experience,” American Airlines stated.
