player ready...Running to represent this district covering far northern suburbs in Lake and McHenry counties are incumbent state Rep. Tom Weber, R-Lake Villa, and Democrat AJ Johnson, 62.
Weber, 59, is a strong fiscal conservative who unequivocally opposes the proposed millionaires tax and favors retaining Illinois’ flat income tax. On top of that, we were moved by Weber’s personal accounts of working with crime victims and their families. He’s clearly not just throwing out partisan talking points on public safety; he’s working with his constituents to address shortcomings in state law.
Johnson is a military veteran and strong candidate, and we were impressed by his openness to a constitutional amendment to address pensions, a position we wish more Democrats would embrace. Where we feel he goes wrong is in extending that openness to a millionaires tax.
Weber’s fiscal conservatism, legislative experience and demonstrated commitment to crime victims earn him our endorsement.
Tom Weber is endorsed.
