Two teenagers from Illinois and a wanted felon are among four people who were arrested late Friday night after a two-state police pursuit, according to a release from Lake County Sheriff Oscar Martinez Jr.
A Chicago police helicopter had been tracking the car after it fled from police there.
Lake County Sheriff’s Department police stopped the car at Burr Street and Interstate 80 in Gary, but it took off again just before 10 p.m.

The fleeing driver headed west on 1-80 and sideswiped a car in traffic on the highway. The suspect vehicle eventually stopped after jumping a curb near River Oaks Drive and Park Avenue in Calumet City, Illinois, police said.
All four ran from the car on foot and were taken into police custody. A handgun was recovered from a backpack near the scene., according to the release.
The driver is a 26-year-old Merrillville man who had several active warrants including felony theft, battery and strangulation, police said. He was bitten by a police K-9 and taken to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment.
A 28-year-old man from Lafayette, Indiana, and two 17-year-old boys who were passengers were expected to be cited and released from the Calumet City Police Department, according to the release.
