Three men, one an off-duty Cook County correctional officer, were wounded during an argument overnight in the city’s River North neighborhood, according to authorities.

Around 1:40 a.m. Saturday, the victims were involved in an argument when a suspect pulled out a firearm and shot them in the 100 block of West Erie Street, Chicago police said.
A 24-year-old shot to the left cheek and leg was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
The correctional officer, 22, suffered gunshot wounds to both legs, while a 25-year-old man suffered wounds to both calves and to the left cheek. Both were also taken to Northwestern, where they were listed in good condition.
A spokesperson with the Cook County sheriff’s office confirmed the correctional officer’s injuries in the shooting, but referred further questions to Chicago police.
The shooting, which occurred a short distance from the Chinese Consulate, was captured on city surveillance, according to an internal police notification obtained by the Tribune. Authorities confirmed that the wounded officer did not return gunfire.
No one was in custody as Belmont Area detectives continued their investigation.
