A Crown Point woman is in stable condition after her husband shot her Sunday night, police said.
Lake County Sheriff’s Department police were sent after 9 p.m. Sept. 13 to the 12200 block of Burr Street after a domestic dispute ended in gunfire, Lake County Sheriff spokeswoman Pam Jones said in a release Sunday night. The caller told dispatch that an armed man may have shot his wife, she said.
Officers arrived to find that a woman at the home had been shot but was able to escape, Jones said.
After securing the area around the home, officers got in contact with a man in the home who was identified as the woman’s husband, Jones said. The man, 85, walked out the front door and was arrested without incident; officers found a revolver inside, she said.

The victim was taken to an area hospital with a gunshot wound to the shoulder, Jones said. No further details will be released at this time because of the ongoing investigation.
“I would like to thank law enforcement from several agencies for the hard work and professionalism they exhibited in helping to make this arrest and prevent additional injuries,” Lake County Sheriff Oscar Martinez Jr. said.
