A motorcyclist is dead after a fatal car crash Saturday afternoon in the city’s Archer Heights neighborhood.
An SUV collided with a motorcycle near the intersection of South Hamlin Avenue and South Archer Avenue just before 1:50 p.m. Saturday, according to police.
A 35-year-old woman driving the SUV was heading south on Hamlin when police say she failed to yield to the 34-year-old motorcyclist who was heading west on Archer. The SUV struck the motorcyclist, fatally injuring him.
Both drivers were transported to local hospitals following the crash, where the motorcyclist was later pronounced dead, according to police. His identity wasn’t immediately released.

Police have issued at least one citation to the SUV driver as they continue to investigate the fatal crash.
