An autopsy confirmed that a man found on a Grand Crossing neighborhood street with cuts and trauma to his face had died in a deadly assault.

The victim—whose identity hadn’t been released, but who was believed to be 59—was found in the 300 block of West 76th Street before 5:15 a.m. Thursday and later pronounced dead at UChicago Medicine.

An autopsy performed Friday showed the man died of multiple blunt force injuries in an assault and the death was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Police had no updates in the case as Wentworth Area detectives continued their investigation.
