Edward Victor Lacy, Jr., 36, of Chicago, was shot and killed in Robbins last week, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Lacy’s father, Edward Lacy, called his son “smart as a whip,” and said he loved football and hip-hip. He had two children, a son and a daughter.
“He had been a certified plumber, which I was proud of him about,” Lacy’s father said. “He had his problems like everybody else, but he didn’t deserve to be murdered.”
Lacy was shot on the 3600 block of Maxey Court, and was pronounced dead at 2:33 a.m. Aug. 13, according to the medical examiner’s office. His cause of death was listed as multiple gunshot wounds.
“He was a sweet soul,” Lacy said. “He just didn’t deserve to be killed in this manner.”
Lacy said police had told him his son had gone out drinking with a friend, and at some point a physical altercation took place.
“I’m still in the dark,” he said. “But again, it’s early in the investigation and I’m gonna pray that law enforcement and the justice system do come through. That’s all I can do.”
The Robbins Police Department did not respond to a request for comment.
The death was one of two fatal shootings last week in Robbins. Marquelle Rose, 29, of Chicago was shot and killed Saturday by a security guard at Harold’s Chicken and Ice Bar after opening fire in an incident where Robbins Mayor Darren Bryant was grazed by a bullet.
