One man was killed and a second man seriously injured Wednesday afternoon in a shooting on the city’s Southwest Side, authorities said.

The men, 26 and 56, were inside a Ford van in the 3800 block of South Western Boulevard in the McKinley Park neighborhood when they were approached by a Honda vehicle, according to Chicago police. Multiple suspects got out of the Honda and opened fire, police said.

The 26-year-old was shot multiple times in his torso and transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead at 4:41 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. The 56-year-old, who also suffered multiple gunshot wounds, was transported to Mt. Sinai, where he was initially listed in serious condition.

Wentworth Area detectives were investigating.
