The two people found dead of gunshot wounds in a Harvey home Thursday were identified as Aaron Jones, 50, of Harvey, and Jwon L. Martin, 46, by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The two were found Thursday morning in a home near Vine Avenue and 150th Street by Harvey police officers.
Jones’ died of multiple gunshot wounds to the head, according to the medical examiner’s office, while Martin died from multiple gunshot wounds and sharp force injuries.
Two dogs were also shot, leaving one dead and the other in critical condition, according to a statement from the city.
Harvey police Chief Dale Mitchell said Thursday police were pursuing several lines of inquiry, and asked anyone with information to call the Police Department detective division at 708-331-3030, Ext. 226.
Mayor Shirley Drewenski asked residents to remember the victims at the start of a special City Council meeting Thursday night.
“On behalf of the city of Harvey, if we could all offer a moment of silence for the two victims, residents of Harvey,” Drewenski said.
