A North Chicago man was killed early Sunday in a stabbing, according to the Lake County Coroner’s Office.

Authorities identified the victim Tuesday as 34-year-old Irwin Gonzalez-Pena.

The coroner’s office said police were called to the area of 10th Street, east of Adams Street, in North Chicago at 12:24 a.m. Sunday.

Arriving officers found Gonzalez-Pena suffering from a stab wound, and he was brought to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy showed a cause of death consistent with a sharp-force injury, the coroner’s office said.
